Charles Webster Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGDHIJKEDLMNOPQ RSTUV

The pine woods on the hillA
And the farmhouse miles awayB
Showed clear as though behind a lensC
Under a sky of peacock blueD
But a blanket of cloud by afternoonE
Muffled the earth And you walked the roadF
And the clover field where the only soundG
Was the cricket's liquid tremoloD
Then the sun went down between great driftsH
Of distant storms For a rising windI
Swept clean the sky and blew the flamesJ
Of the unprotected starsK
And swayed the russet moonE
Hanging between the rim of the hillD
And the twinkling boughs of the apple orchardL
You walked the shore in thoughtM
Where the throats of the waves were like whip poor willsN
Singing beneath the water and cryingO
To the wash of the wind in the cedar treesP
Till you stood too full for tears by the cotQ
And looking up saw JupiterR
Tipping the spire of the giant pineS
And looking down saw my vacant chairT
Rocked by the wind on the lonely porchU
Be brave BelovedV
