Benjamin Painter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJEK

Together in this grave lie Benjamin Painter attorney at lawA
And Nig his dog constant companion solace and friendB
Down the grey road friends children men and womenC
Passing one by one out of life left me till I was aloneD
With Nig for partner bed fellow comrade in drinkE
In the morning of life I knew aspiration and saw gloryF
Then she who survives me snared my soulG
With a snare which bled me to deathH
Till I once strong of sill lay broken indifferentI
Living with Nig in a room back of a dingy officeJ
Under my jaw bone is snuggled the bony nose of NigE
Our story is lost in silence Go by mad worldK
