Up And Down The Lanes Of Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE AAFFGGHHEE AAIIDDJJKK AADDLLMNII

UP and down the lanes of loveA
With the bright blue skies aboveA
And the grass beneath our feetB
O so green and O so sweetB
There we wandered boy and girlC
Sun kissed was each golden curlC
Hand in hand we used to strayD
Hide and seek we used to playD
Just a pair of kids were weE
Laughing loving trouble freeE
-
Up and down the lanes of loveA
With the same blue skies aboveA
Next we wandered bride and groomF
With the roses all in bloomF
Arm in arm we strolled alongG
Life was then a merry songG
Laughing dancing as we wentH
Lovers cheerful and contentH
No one else we thought could beE
Quite so happy as were weE
-
Up and down the lanes of loveA
Dark and gray the skies aboveA
Hushed the song birds' merry tuneI
Withered every rose of JuneI
Grief was ours to bear that dayD
All our smiles had passed awayD
Sorrow we must bear togetherJ
Love must have its rainy weatherJ
Keeping still our faith in GodK
As the lanes of love we trodK
-
Up and down the lanes of loveA
Still the skies are bright aboveA
Feeble now we go our wayD
Time has turned our hair to grayD
Rain and sunshine joy and woeL
Both of us have come to knowL
All of life's experienceM
Has been given us to senseN
Still our hearts keep perfect tuneI
As they did in days of JuneI
