There Are No Gods! Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFDDDDGHGH IJIJ

There are no gods that bring to youthA
The rich rewards that stalwarts claimB
The god of fortune is in truthA
A vision and an empty nameB
The toiler who through doubt and careC
Unto his goal and victory plodsD
With no one need his glory shareC
He is himself his favoring godsD
There are no gods that will bestowE
Earth's joys and blessings on a manF
Each one must choose the path he'll goE
Then win from it what joy he canF
And he that battles with the oddsD
Shall know success but he who waitsD
The favors of the mystic godsD
Shall never come to glory's gatesD
No man is greater than his willG
No gods to him will lend a handH
Upon his courage and his skillG
The record of his life must standH
What honors shall befall to himI
What he shall claim of fame or pelfJ
Depend not on the favoring whimI
Of fortune's god but on himselfJ
