The Tears Expressive Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAAB CDDCCD EFFEEF CDDCCD

Death crossed his threshold yesterdayA
And left the glad voice of his loved one dumbB
To him the living now will comeB
And cross his threshold in the self same wayA
To clasp his hand and vainly try to sayA
Words that shall soothe the heart that's stricken numbB
-
And I shall be among them in that placeC
So still and silent where she used to singD
The glad sweet spirit that has taken wingD
Where shone the radiance of her lovely faceC
And where she met him oft with fond embraceC
I shall step in to share his sorrowingD
-
Beside the staircase that has known her handE
And in the hall her presence made completeF
The home her life endowed with memories sweetF
Where everything has heard her sweet commandE
And seems to wear her beauty I shall standE
Wondering just how to greet him when we meetF
-
I dread the very silence of the placeC
I dread our meeting and the time to speakD
Speech seems so vain when sorrow's at the peakD
Yet though my words lack soothing power or graceC
Perhaps he'll catch their meaning in my faceC
And read the tears which glisten on my cheekD
