The Sorrow Tugs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDED FGHGIDJD KFLFMNON FKPKQRSR TUFVBDED

There's a lot of joy in the smiling worldA
there's plenty of morning sunB
And laughter and songs and dances tooC
when ever the day's work's doneB
Full many an hour is a shining oneB
when viewed by itself apartD
But the golden threads in the warp of lifeE
are the sorrow tugs at your heartD
-
Oh the fun is froth and it blows awayF
and many a joy's forgotG
And the pleasures come and the pleasures goH
and memory holds them notG
But treasured ever you keep the painI
that causes your tears to startD
For the sweetest hours are the ones that bringJ
the sorrow tugs at your heartD
-
The lump in your throat and the little sighK
when your baby trudged awayF
The very first time to the big red schoolL
how long will their memory stayF
The fever days and the long black nightsM
you watched as she troubled sleptN
And the joy you felt when she smiled once moreO
how long will that all be keptN
-
The glad hours live in a feeble wayF
but the sad ones never dieK
His first long trousers caused a pangP
and you saw them with a sighK
And the big still house when the boy and girlQ
unto youth and beauty grownR
To college went will you e'er forgetS
that first grim hour aloneR
-
It seems as you look back over thingsT
that all that you treasure dearU
Is somehow blent in a wondrous wayF
with a heart pang and a tearV
Though many a day is a joyous oneB
when viewed by itself apartD
The golden threads in the warp of lifeE
are the sorrow tugs at your heartD
