Other's Successes Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFDGHIHI JKJJLMLN

CAN you go to another who wins in the fightA
And give him a hand shake that 's trueB
Do you find yourself feeling a sense of delightA
In the good work another may doB
Or deep in your heart are there envy and hateC
When you see someone getting aheadD
Do you sneer at his luck and rail at your fateC
If you do all your courage has fledD
-
If you haven't learned to rejoice in the deedE
Of your brothers and give them a cheerF
You haven't discovered the pathways that leadD
To genuine happiness hereG
If you cannot say to a brother ' I 'm gladH
You have conquered ' and give him your handI
Your life must be gloomy and woefully sadH
You 're building your mansion on sandI
-
Did you secretly gloat when another had failedJ
Did you sneer at the efforts he madeK
Did it inwardly please you to see him assailedJ
Did you chuckle to see him outplayedJ
If this is the part you have chosen to playL
If you are as selfish as thisM
Though he falls in the thick and the heat of the frayL
Your failure is greater than hisN
