My Creed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGHH IIJJKKLL

To live as gently as I canA
To be no matter where a manA
To take what comes of good or illB
And cling to faith and honor stillB
To do my best and let that standC
The record of my brain and handC
And then should failure come to meD
Still work and hope for victoryD
-
To have no secret place whereinE
I stoop unseen to shame or sinE
To be the same when I'm aloneF
As when my every deed is knownF
To live undaunted unafraidG
Of any step that I have madeG
To be without pretense or shamH
Exactly what men think I amH
-
To leave some simple mark behindI
To keep my having lived in mindI
If enmity to aught I showJ
To be an honest generous foeJ
To play my little part nor whineK
That greater honors are not mineK
This I believe is all I needL
For my philosophy and creedL
