Just A Boy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGDD BBHHBBDD IIJJKKDD

Get to understand the ladA
He's not eager to be badA
If the right he always knewB
He would be as old as youB
Were he now exceeding wiseC
He'd be just about your sizeC
When he does things that annoyD
Don't forget he's just a boyD
-
Could he know and understandE
He would need no guiding handE
But he's young and hasn't learnedF
How life's corners must be turnedF
Doesn't know from day to dayG
There is more in life than playG
More to face than selfish joyD
Don't forget he's just a boyD
-
Being just a boy he'll doB
Much you will not want him toB
He'll be careless of his waysH
Have his disobedient daysH
Wilful wild and headstrong tooB
Just as when a boy were youB
Things of value he'll destroyD
But reflect he's just a boyD
-
Just a boy who needs a friendI
Patient kindly to the endI
Needs a father who will showJ
Him the things he wants to knowJ
Take him with you when you walkK
Listen when he wants to talkK
His companionship enjoyD
Don't forget he's just a boyD
