Expectation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGFF HHIIJJKK LLMMNNFF

Most folks as I've noticed in pleasure an' strifeA
Are always expecting too much out of lifeA
They wail an' they fretB
Just because they don't getB
The best o' the sunshine the fairest o' flowersC
The finest o' features the strongest o' powersC
They whine an' they whimper an' curse an' condemnD
Coz life isn't always bein' partial to themD
-
Notwithstandin' the pain an' the sufferin' they seeE
They cling to the notion that they should go freeE
That they shouldn't shareF
In life's trouble an' careF
But should always be happy an' never perplexedG
An' never discouraged or beaten or vexedG
When life treats 'em roughly an' jolts 'em with careF
They seem to imagine it's bein' unfairF
-
It's a curious notion folks hold in their prideH
That their souls should never be tested or triedH
That others must mournI
An' be sick an' forlornI
An' stand by the biers of their loved ones an' weepJ
But life from such sorrows their bosoms must keepJ
Oh they mustn't know what it means to be sadK
Or they'll wail that the treatment they're gettin' is badK
-
Now life as I view it means pleasure an' painL
An' laughter an' weepin' an' sunshine an' rainL
An' takin' an' givin'M
An' all who are livin'M
Must face it an' bear it the best that they canN
Believin' great Wisdom is workin' the planN
An' no one should ever complain it's unfairF
Because at the moment he's tastin' despairF
