The Ground Swell Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDEFGHFGH| Three times we heard it calling with a low | A |
| Insistent note at ebb tide on the noon | B |
| And at the hour of dusk when the red moon | B |
| Was rising and the tide was on the flow | A |
| Then at the hour of midnight once again | C |
| Though we had entered in and shut the door | D |
| And drawn the blinds it crept up from the shore | D |
| And smote upon a bedroom window pane | E |
| Then passed away as some dull pang that grew | F |
| Out of the void before Eternity | G |
| Had fashioned out an edge for human grief | H |
| Before the winds of God had learned to strew | F |
| His harvest sweepings on a winter sea | G |
| To feed the primal hungers of a reef | H |
