Accession Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFGFHIHI

Once I loved and my heart bowed downA
Subject and slave for Love was a KingB
He sat above with sceptre and crownA
Turning his eyes from my sorrowingB
The laugh of a god on his lips lay lightC
His lips victorious that mocked my painD
And I mourned in the cold and the outer nightC
And my tears and my prayers were vainD
-
Now the old spell is over and doneE
Myself I wear the ermine and goldF
My brows are crowned I ascend the throneG
I have taken the sceptre and orb to holdF
I smile victorious set far aboveH
The music of voices that moan and prayI
My feet are wet with the tears of loveH
And I turn my eyes awayI
