When once the twilight locks no longer	A
Locked in the long worm of my finger	A
Nor damned the sea that sped about my fist	B
The mouth of time sucked like a sponge	C
The milky acid on each hinge	D
And swallowed dry the waters of the breast	E
	-
When the galactic sea was sucked	F
And all the dry seabed unlocked	G
I sent my creature scouting on the globe	H
That globe itself of hair and bone	I
That sewn to me by nerve and brain	J
Had stringed my flask of matter to his rib	K
	-
My fuses are timed to charge his heart	L
He blew like powder to the light	M
And held a little sabbath with the sun	N
But when the stars assuming shape	O
Drew in his eyes the straws of sleep	P
He drowned his father's magics in a dream	Q

All issue armoured of the grave	R
The redhaired cancer still alive	S
The cataracted eyes that filmed their cloth	T
Some dead undid their bushy jaws	U
And bags of blood let out their flies	V
He had by heart the Christ cross row of death	W
	-
Sleep navigates the tides of time	X
The dry Sargasso of the tomb	Y
Gives up its dead to such a working sea	Z
And sleep rolls mute above the beds	A2
Where fishes' food is fed the shades	B2
Who periscope through flowers to the sky	C2
	-
When once the twilight screws were turned	D2
And mother milk was stiff as sand	E2
I sent my own ambassador to light	M
By trick or chance he fell asleep	P
And conjured up a carcass shape	O
To rob me of my fluids in his heart	L
	-
Awake my sleeper to the sun	N
A worker in the morning town	F2
And leave the poppied pickthank where he lies	V
The fences of the light are down	F2
All but the briskest riders thrown	I
And worlds hang on the trees	G2
