When I Woke Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGGHIJGKLM GNGOPQRGSTUGBVB

When I woke the town spokeA
Birds and clocks and cross bellsB
Dinned aside the coiling crowdC
The reptile profligates in a flameD
Spoilers and pokers of sleepE
The next door sea dispelledF
Frogs and satans and woman luckG
While a man outside with a billhookG
Up to his head in his bloodH
Cutting the morning offI
The warm veined double of TimeJ
And his scarving beard from a bookG
Slashed down the last snake as thoughK
It were a wand or subtle boughL
Its tongue peeled in the wrap of a leafM
-
Every morning I makeG
God in bed good and badN
After a water face walkG
The death stagged scatter breathO
Mammoth and sparrowfallP
Everybody's earthQ
Where birds ride like leaves and boats like ducksR
I heard this morning wakingG
Crossly out of the town noisesS
A voice in the erected airT
No prophet progeny of mineU
Cry my sea town was breakingG
No Time spoke the clocks no God rang the bellsB
I drew the white sheet over the islandsV
And the coins on my eyelids sang like shellsB
