My Hero Bares His Nerves Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBA DBEBF GHIHJ KBLBM

My hero bares his nerves along my wristA
That rules from wrist to shoulderB
Unpacks the head that like a sleepy ghostC
Leans on my mortal rulerB
The proud spine spurning turn and twistA
-
And these poor nerves so wired to the skullD
Ache on the lovelorn paperB
I hug to love with my unruly scrawlE
That utters all love hungerB
And tells the page the empty illF
-
My hero bares my side and sees his heartG
Tread like a naked VenusH
The beach of flesh and wind her bloodred plaitI
Stripping my loin of promiseH
He promises a secret heatJ
-
He holds the wire from this box of nervesK
Praising the mortal errorB
Of birth and death the two sad knaves of thievesL
And the hunger's emperorB
He pulls that chain the cistern movesM
