Especially When The October Wind Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGE HIJHJJJJ KLLKJMNJ AJJDJOOJ

Especially when the October windA
With frosty fingers punishes my hairB
Caught by the crabbing sun I walk on fireC
And cast a shadow crab upon the landD
By the sea's side hearing the noise of birdsE
Hearing the raven cough in winter sticksF
My busy heart who shudders as she talksG
Sheds the syllabic blood and drains her wordsE
-
Shut too in a tower of words I markH
On the horizon walking like the treesI
The wordy shapes of women and the rowsJ
Of the star gestured children in the parkH
Some let me make you of the vowelled beechesJ
Some of the oaken voices from the rootsJ
Of many a thorny shire tell you notesJ
Some let me make you of the water's speechesJ
-
Behind a pot of ferns the wagging clockK
Tells me the hour's word the neural meaningL
Flies on the shafted disk declaims the morningL
And tells the windy weather in the cockK
Some let me make you of the meadow's signsJ
The signal grass that tells me all I knowM
Breaks with the wormy winter through the eyeN
Some let me tell you of the raven's sinsJ
-
Especially when the October windA
Some let me make you of autumnal spellsJ
The spider tongued and the loud hill of WalesJ
With fists of turnips punishes the landD
Some let me make you of the heartless wordsJ
The heart is drained that spelling in the scurryO
Of chemic blood warned of the coming furyO
By the sea's side hear the dark vowelled birdsJ
