Being But Men Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE FGHIJ KLM NJO A

Being but men we walked into the treesA
Afraid letting our syllables be softB
For fear of waking the rooksC
For fear of comingD
Noiselessly into a world of wings and criesE
-
If we were children we might climbF
Catch the rooks sleeping and break no twigG
And after the soft ascentH
Thrust out our heads above the branchesI
To wonder at the unfailing starsJ
-
Out of confusion as the way isK
And the wonder that man knowsL
Out of the chaos would come blissM
-
That then is loveliness we saidN
Children in wonder watching the starsJ
Is the aim and the endO
-
Being but men we walked into the treesA
