After The Funeral (in Memory Of Ann Jones) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDAEFAFAGHIAJKLKEK MFAANAFNFOAPFQHNRSTS

After the funeral mule praises braysA
Windshake of sailshaped ears muffle toed tapB
Tap happily of one peg in the thickC
Grave's foot blinds down the lids the teeth in blackD
The spittled eyes the salt ponds in the sleevesA
Morning smack of the spade that wakes up sleepE
Shakes a desolate boy who slits his throatF
In the dark of the coffin and sheds dry leavesA
That breaks one bone to light with a judgment clout'F
After the feast of tear stuffed time and thistlesA
In a room with a stuffed fox and a stale fernG
I stand for this memorial's sake aloneH
In the snivelling hours with dead humped AnnI
Whose hodded fountain heart once fell in puddlesA
Round the parched worlds of Wales and drowned each sunJ
Though this for her is a monstrous image blindlyK
Magnified out of praise her death was a still dropL
She would not have me sinking in the holyK
Flood of her heart's fame she would lie dumb and deepE
And need no druid of her broken bodyK
But I Ann's bard on a raised hearth call allM
The seas to service that her wood tongud virtueF
Babble like a bellbuoy over the hymning headsA
Bow down the walls of the ferned and foxy woodsA
That her love sing and swing through a brown chapelN
Blees her bent spirit with four crossing birdsA
Her flesh was meek as milk but this skyward statueF
With the wild breast and blessed and giant skullN
Is carved from her in a room with a wet windowF
In a fiercely mourning house in a crooked yearO
I know her scrubbed and sour humble handsA
Lie with religion in their cramp her threadbareP
Whisper in a damp word her wits drilled hollowF
Her fist of a face died clenched on a round painQ
And sculptured Ann is seventy years of stoneH
These cloud sopped marble hands this monumentalN
Argument of the hewn voice gesture and psalmR
Storm me forever over her grave untilS
The stuffed lung of the fox twitch and cry LoveT
And the strutting fern lay seeds on the black sillS
