Song Of Lovely Women Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOOOOOP OQO RHSTOUOVOWOO

Third day third month festivalA
and the air fresh with springB
beside Serpentine Lake in Chang'anC
many lovely women strollD
Their appearance is elegantE
their thoughts lofty and refinedF
their complexions delicateG
figures in perfect proportionH
Their embroidered silk gownsI
glisten with spring lightJ
golden peacocks and beasts of silverK
strut upon the fabricL
What is it that they wearM
upon their headsN
Jeweled headbands with kingfisher feathersO
dangling to their hairlinesO
And what is it that we seeO
upon their backsO
Pearl studded overskirtsO
drawn tight at the waistP
Among them are kin of the Pepper flower Chamber with its cloud patterned curtainsO
the Duchesses of Guo and QinQ
honored with the names of nationsO
-
A great roast of purple camel humpR
rises from a green cauldronH
and crystal plates gleamS
with heaps of white scaled fishT
But the rhinoceros horn chopsticksO
long sated are slow to descendU
and the belled knife handlesO
dance vainly above the roastV
The flying steeds of the eunuchsO
hardly stir the dustW
as they bear in eight exotic dishesO
from the Imperial KitchensO
