A Homeless Man's Departure Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIGJKLMNDOPQR STUVWXYZYA2B2C2

After the Rebellion of all was silent wastelandA
gardens and cottages turned to grass and thornsB
My village had over a hundred householdsC
but the chaotic world scattered them east and westD
No information about the survivorsE
the dead are dust and mudF
I a humble soldier was defeated in battleG
I ran back home to look for old roadsH
and walked a long time through the empty lanesI
The sun was thin the air tragic and dismalG
I met only foxes and raccoonsJ
their hair on end as they snarled in rageK
Who remains in my neighborhoodL
One or two old widowsM
A returning bird loves its old branchesN
how could I give up this poor nestD
In spring I carry my hoe all aloneO
yet still water the land at sunsetP
The county governor's clerk heard I'd returnedQ
and summoned me to practice the war drumR
This military service won't take me from my stateS
I look around and have no one to worry aboutT
It's just me alone and the journey is shortU
but I will end up lost if I travel too farV
Since my village has been washed awayW
near or far makes no differenceX
I will forever feel pain for my long sick motherY
I abandoned her in this valley five years agoZ
She gave birth to me yet I could not help herY
We cry sour sobs till our lives endA2
In my life I have no family to say farewell toB2
so how can I be called a human beingC2
