The clock of my days winds downA
The cat eats sparrows outside my windowB
Once she brought me a small rabbitC
which we devoured together underD
the Empire TableE
while the men shriekedF
repossessing the gold umbrellaG
-
Now the beard on my clock turns whiteH
My cat stares into dark cornersI
missing her gold umbrellaG
She is in loveJ
with the Alligator BrideK
-
Ah the tiny fine whiteH
teeth The Bride propped on her tailL
in white laceM
stares from the holesN
of her eyes Her stuck open mouthO
laughs at minister and peopleE
-
On bare new woodP
fourteen tomatoesQ
a dozen ears of cornR
six bottles of white wineS
-
a melonT
a catU
broccoliV
and the Alligator BrideK
-
The color of bubble gumW
the consistency of petroleum jellyV
wickedness oozesX
from the palm of my left handY
My cat licks itZ
I watch the Alligator BrideK
-
Big houses like shabby bouldersI
hold themselves tightH
in gelatinT
I am unable to daydreamA2
The sky is a gun aimed at meV
I pull the triggerD
The skull of my promisesB2
leans in a black closet gapesB2
with its good mouthO
for a teat to suckC2
-
A bird flies back and forthD2
in my house that is covered by gelatinT
and the cat leaps at itZ
missing Under the Empire TableE
the Alligator BrideK
lies in her bridal shroudE2
My left handY
leaks on the Chinese carpetC
