Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHICJKKKLKKMHN KOPQ

December twenty firstA
we gather at the white Church festoonedB
red and green the tree flashingC
green red lights beside the altarD
After the children of Sunday SchoolE
recite Scripture sing songsF
and scrape out solosG
they retire to dress for the finaleH
to perform the pageantI
again Mary and Joseph kneelingC
cradleside Three KingsJ
shepherds and shepherdesses Their garmentsK
are bathrobes with mothholesK
cut down from the Church's ancestorsK
Standing short and longL
they stare in all directions for mothersK
sisters and brothersK
giggling and waving in recognitionM
and at the South DanburyH
Church a moment before SantaN
arrives with her ho hosK
and bags of popcorn in the half darkO
of whole silence GodP
enters the world as a newborn againQ
