Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDEED FFGHHG IJKJ LMNNMOMOBBPWe stood among the boats and nets | A |
We saw the swift clouds fall | B |
We watched the schooners scamper in | C |
Before the sudden squall | B |
The jolly squall strove lustily | B |
To whelm the sheltered street | D |
The merry squall that piled the seas | E |
About the patient headland's knees | E |
And chased the fishing fleet | D |
- | |
She laughed as if with wings her mirth | F |
Arose and left the wingless earth | F |
And all tame things behind | G |
Rose like a bird wild with delight | H |
Whose briny pinions flash in flight | H |
Through storm and sun and wind | G |
- | |
Her laughter sought those skies because | I |
Their mood and hers were one | J |
For she and I were drunk with love | K |
And life and storm and sun | J |
- | |
And while she laughed the Sun himself | L |
Leapt laughing through the rain | M |
And struck his harper hand along | N |
The ringing coast and that wind song | N |
Whose joy is mixed with pain | M |
Forgot the undertone of grief | O |
And joined the jocund strain | M |
And over every hidden reef | O |
Whereon the waves broke merrily | B |
Rose jets and sprays of melody | B |
And leapt and laughed again | P |
