Rhyme Scheme: AA BC AD EF GH EI JK LM NO D

Not the moon A flowerA
on the other side of the waterA
-
The water sweeps past in floodB
dragging a whole tree by the hairC
-
a barn a bridge The flowerA
sings on the far bankD
-
Not a flower a bird callingE
hidden among the darkest trees musicF
-
over the water making a silenceG
out of the brown folds of the river's cloakH
-
The moon No a young man walkingE
under the trees There are lanternsI
-
among the leavesJ
Tender wise merryK
-
his face is awake with its own lightL
I see it across the water as if close upM
-
A jester The music rings from his bellsN
gravely a tune of sorrowO
-
I dance to it on my riverbankD
