The Well Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDE EFFCGFHI JKLF

At sixteen I believed the moonlightA
could change me if it wouldB
I moved my headC
on the pillow even moved my bedC
as the moon slowlyD
crossed the open latticeE
-
I wanted beauty a dangerousE
gleam of steel my body thinnerF
my pale face palerF
I moonbathedC
diligently as others sunbatheG
But the moon's unsmiling stareF
kept me awake MorningsH
I was flushed and crossI
-
It was on dark nights of deep sleepJ
that I dreamed the most sunk in the wellK
and woke rested and if not beautifulL
filled with some other powerF
