Rhyme Scheme: ABCDE BBFGHFIJKBB LMNCOPQEBR

Bricks of the wallA
so much older than the houseB
taken I think from a farm pulled downC
when the street was builtD
narrow bricks of another centuryE
-
Modestly though laid with panels and parapetsB
a wall behind the flowersB
roses and hollyhocks the silverF
pods of lupine sweet tastingG
phlox grayH
lavenderF
unnoticedI
but I discoveredJ
the colors in the wall that wokeK
when spray from the hoseB
played on its pocks and wartsB
-
a hazy red aL
grain gold a mauveM
of small shadows sprungN
from the quiet dry brownC
archetypeO
of the world always a stepP
beyond the world that can'tQ
be looked for onlyE
as the eye wandersB
