St. Peter And The Angel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DBEFGH IJK JLMNOEBPQRSPTU

Delivered out of raw continual painA
smell of darkness groans of those othersB
to whom he was chainedC
-
unchained and ledD
past the sleepersB
door after door silently openingE
outF
And along a long street'sG
majestic emptiness under the moonH
-
one hand on the angel's shoulder oneI
feeling the air before himJ
eyes open but fixedK
-
And not till he saw the angel had left himJ
alone and free to resumeL
the ecstatic dangerous wearisome roads ofM
what he had still to doN
not till then did he recognizeO
this was no dream More frighteningE
than arrest than being chained to his wardersB
he could hear his own footsteps suddenlyP
Had the angel's feetQ
made any sound He could not recallR
No one had missed him no one was in pursuitS
He himself must beP
the key now to the next doorT
the next terrors of freedom and joyU
