Rhyme Scheme: ABC CAD EEFGHIJK ALMNEOPQAR STGRU VKW XAWY ZAR

The clouds as I see them risingA
urgently roseate in theB
mounting of somber powerC
-
-
surging in evening haste overC
roofs and hermeticA
grim wallsD
-
-
Last nightE
As if death had lit a pale lightE
in your flesh your fleshF
was cold to my touch or not coldG
but cool cooling as if the last tracesH
of warmth were still fading in youI
My thigh burned in cold fear whereJ
yours touched itK
-
-
But I forced to mind my vision of a skyA
close and enclosed unlike the space in which these clouds moveL
a sky of gray mist it appearedM
and how looking intently at it we sawN
its gray was not gray but a milky whiteE
in which radiant traces of opal greensO
fiery blues gleamed faded gleamed againP
and how only then seeing the color in the grayQ
a field sprang into sight extendingA
between where we stood and the horizonR
-
-
a field of freshest deep spiring grassS
starred with dandelionsT
green and goldG
gold and green alternating in closewovenR
chords madrigal fieldU
-
-
Is death s chill that visited our bedV
other than what it seemed is itK
a gray to be watched keenlyW
-
-
Wiping my glasses and leaning westwardX
clearing my mind of the day s mist and leaningA
into myself to seeW
the colors of truthY
-
-
I watch the clouds as I see themZ
in pomp advancing pursuingA
the fallen sunR
