Hector Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBA CDECED

He strode across the schoolroom in JulyA
Great Hector clanging in his brazen mailB
And all the cringing Greeks with faces paleB
Creaked into jabbering Ks and turned to flyA
Achilles safe because he could not dieA
Cheated and won and all the lines grew staleB
The life was gone from out the shabby taleB
And back in Homer's teeth we flung the lieA
-
We fought for Troy behind a mossy wallC
We burned the Grecian ships below a treeD
Ah that great war was forty years agoE
Yet still I know that Hector did not fallC
For when the bell rang truce to friend and foeE
Achilles lying Greek was under meD
