Troth With The Dead Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDE FGHGIJKL

The moon is broken in twain and half a moonA
Before me lies on the still pale floor of the skyB
The other half of the broken coin of trothC
Is buried away in the dark where the still dead lieB
They buried her half in the grave when they laid her awayD
I had pushed it gently in among the thick of her hairE
Where it gathered towards the plait on that very last dayD
And like a moon in secret it is shining thereE
-
My half shines in the sky for a general signF
Of the troth with the dead I pledged myself to keepG
Turning its broken edge to the dark it shines indeedH
Like the sign of a lover who turns to the dark of sleepG
Against my heart the inviolate sleep breaks stillI
In darkened waves whose breaking echoes o erJ
The wondering world of my wakeful day till I m lostK
In the midst of the places I knew so well beforeL
