Since you did departA
Out of my reach my darlingB
Into the hiddenC
I see each shadow startA
With recognition and ID
Am wonder riddenC
-
I am dazed with the farewellE
But I scarcely feel your lossF
You left me a giftG
Of tongues so the shadows tellE
Me things and silences tossF
Me their driftG
-
You sent me a cloven fireH
Out of death and it burns in the draughtI
Of the breathing hostsJ
Kindles the darkening pyreH
For the sorrowful till strange brands waftK
Like candid ghostsJ
-
Form after form in the streetsL
Waves like a ghost alongM
Kindled to meN
The star above the house top greetsL
Me every eve with a longM
Song fierilyE
-
All day long the townO
Glimmers with subtle ghostsJ
Going up and downO
In a common prison like dressP
But their daunted looking flickersQ
To me and I answer YesP
-
So I am not lonely nor sadR
Although bereaved of youS
My little loveT
I move among a kinsfolk cladR
With words but the dream shows throughS
As they moveU
