A Winter's Tale Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED AFAF

Yesterday the fields were only grey with scattered snowA
And now the longest grass leaves hardly emergeB
Yet her deep footsteps mark the snow and goA
On towards the pines at the hills white vergeB
-
I cannot see her since the mist s white scarfC
Obscures the dark wood and the dull orange skyD
But she s waiting I know impatient and cold halfE
Sobs struggling into her frosty sighD
-
Why does she come so promptly when she must knowA
That she s only the nearer to the inevitable farewellF
The hill is steep on the snow my steps are slowA
Why does she come when she knows what I have to tellF
