It was the saddest and lowest time of our life
Our family was stricken not just with problem or strife
We lost our loving father, a dear husband and caring grandfather
He was our friend, our fan, and our greatest supporter.

He was a very proud man, yet very humble, too
He would never admit he needed help from me or you
A man so full of stories about his life’s triumphs and despair
But his tales of joy when he found Jesus are beyond compare.

He was a very good neighbor and friend to many,
Even to somebody he just met very shortly
A man who’s so trusting not just to his friends and family
He never doubted, or thought ill of others that easily

With his good looks, was a big loving heart ever
Thus, with Lola Juling there was ‘forever
If he ever was sick, or needed a doctor, I could not recall
His secret… he jogged every morning, no cigarettes, no alcohol.

When I was very young, I thought he was a genius
His answers to all my questions and problems were of great use
Talented, he could sing, dance, and even played the organ
An artist, engraver, painter, preacher, you’ll admire the works he’d done.

As for me, I consider my Lolo Mele my wonderful hero
I cannot imagine what it was like without him my whole life through
I had no father, so he took the role and became the best one for me
He was my guard, my counselor, my guide to how a good Christian should be.

Lolo Mele was a peaceful man who did not want any trouble
He would always forgive, even for us forgiving was impossible.
Be it about money, hurting words or deed to him you’d show.
He would never hurt you back, not a curse from him will flow.

Tatay had his many mistakes and we know of his imperfection.
But leading us all to Jesus was his greatest completed mission
Even days before his death, when asked what else he wanted to do
He replied, “I must make and distribute tracts,’ let's pray, it will be so.

Preaching God's Word was all he wanted to do
He'd share God’s way of salvation hundreds of times or so
Whenever he saw a person he saw a soul marching to hell
So nothing could stop him, about God’s love he would tell.

“This world is not my home I'm just a passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue”
Our Tatay Mele used to sing, and he believed in this song
Yes, he lived his life storing treasures in heaven where he does belong.

“A Sinner Saved by Grace,” is etched on his grave
He said, “There’s assurance of heaven, never fear death, be brave.”
“Heavenly Father, thank You because you are a good God,” he prayed
He knew he was facing death, but he kept his faith and never dismayed.

Until this day, we still cry our hearts out, are in pain… a heavy feeling
You are no longer with us, it's really sad, and tears just keep falling
But heaven is a billion times better, no more nights, no more pain
Surely, you're happily talking with Jesus face to face…. there in heaven.

We miss you, Lolo Mele.
