The Foreign Land Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGH

A woman is a foreign landA
Of which though there he settle youngB
A man will ne'er quite understandA
The customs politics and tongueB
The foolish hie them post haste throughC
See fashions odd and prospects fairD
Learn of the language How d'ye doC
And go and brag they have been thereD
The most for leave to trade applyE
For once at Empire's seat her heartF
Then get what knowledge ear and eyeE
Glean chancewise in the life long martF
And certain others few and fitG
Attach them to the Court and seeH
The Country's best its accent hitG
And partly sound its polityH
