Beneath the stars and summer moonA
A pair of wedded lovers walkB
Upon the stars and summer moonA
They turn their happy eyes and talkB

-
Those stars that moon for me they shineD
With lovely but no startling lightE
My joy is much but not as thineD
A joy that fills the pulse like frightE

-
My love a darken'd conscience clothesG
The world in sackcloth and I fearH
The stain of life this new heart loathesG
Still clouds my sight but thine is clearH
-
True vision is no startling boonA
To one in whom it always liesG
But if true sight of stars and moonA
Were strange to thee it would surpriseG
-
Disease it is and dearth in meI
Which thou believest genius wealthJ
And that imagined want in theeI
Is riches and abundant healthJ
-
O little merit I my brideK
And therefore will I love her moreL
Renewing by her gentle sideK
Lost worth let this thy smile restoreL
-
EdithC
-
Ah love we both with longing deepM
Love words and actions kind which areN
More good for life than bread or sleepM
More beautiful than Moon or StarN
