To One Coming North Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCE FGFG HIHJ

At first you'll joy to see the playful snowA
Like white moths trembling on the tropic airB
Or waters of the hills that softly flowA
Gracefully falling down a shining stairB
-
And when the fields and streets are covered whiteC
And the wind worried void is chilly rawD
Or underneath a spell of heat and lightC
The cheerless frozen spots begin to thawE
-
Like me you'll long for home where birds' glad songF
Means flowering lanes and leas and spaces dryG
And tender thoughts and feelings fine and strongF
Beneath a vivid silver flecked blue skyG
-
But oh more than the changeless southern islesH
When Spring has shed upon the earth her charmI
You'll love the Northland wreathed in golden smilesH
By the miraculous sun turned glad and warmJ
