The Tropics In New York Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC CDCD

Bananas ripe and green and ginger rootA
Cocoa in pods and alligator pearsB
And tangerines and mangoes and grape fruitA
Fit for the highest prize at parish fairsB
-
Set in the window bringing memoriesC
Of fruit trees laden by low singing rillsC
And dewy dawns and mystical blue skiesC
In benediction over nun like hillsC
-
My eyes grew dim and I could no more gazeC
A wave of longing through my body sweptD
And hungry for the old familiar waysC
I turned aside and bowed my head and weptD
