Throughout the afternoon I watched them thereB
Snow fairies falling falling from the skyA
Whirling fantastic in the misty airB
Contending fierce for space supremacyC
And they flew down a mightier force at nightD
As though in heaven there was revolt and riotE
And they frail things had taken panic flightD
Down to the calm earth seeking peace and quietE
I went to bed and rose at early dawnF
To see them huddled together in a heapG
Each merged into the other upon the lawnF
Worn out by the sharp struggle fast asleepG
The sun shone brightly on them half the dayH
By night they stealthily had stol'n awayH

And suddenly my thoughts then turned to youI
Who came to me upon a winter's nightD
When snow sprites round my attic window flewI
Your hair disheveled eyes aglow with lightD
My heart was like the weather when you cameJ
The wanton winds were blowing loud and longK
But you with joy and passion all aflameJ
You danced and sang a lilting summer songK
I made room for you in my little bedL
Took covers from the closet fresh and warmM
A downful pillow for your scented headL
And lay down with you resting in my armN
You went with Dawn You left me ere the dayH
The lonely actor of a dreamy playH
