Subway Wind Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGH

Far down down through the city's great gaunt gutA
The gray train rushing bears the weary windB
In the packed cars the fans the crowd's breath cutA
Leaving the sick and heavy air behindB
And pale cheeked children seek the upper doorC
To give their summer jackets to the breezeD
Their laugh is swallowed in the deafening roarC
Of captive wind that moans for fields and seasD
Seas cooling warm where native schooners driftE
Through sleepy waters while gulls wheel and sweepF
Waiting for windy waves the keels to liftE
Lightly among the islands of the deepF
Islands of lofty palm trees blooming whiteG
That lend their perfume to the tropic seaH
Where fields lie idle in the dew drenched nightG
And the Trades float above them fresh and freeH
