Not once in all our days of poignant loveB
Did I a single instant give to theeC
My undivided being wholly freeC
Not all thy potent passion could removeD
The barrier that loomed between to proveD
The full supreme surrendering of meC
Oh I was beaten helpless utterlyC
Against the shadow fact with which I stroveE
For when a cruel power forced me to faceF
The truth which poisoned our illicit wineG
That even I was faithless to my raceF
Bleeding beneath the iron hand of thineG
Our union seemed a monstrous thing and baseF
I was an outcast from thy world and mineG

-
Adventure seasoned and storm buffetedH
I shun all signs of anchorage becauseI
The zest of life exceeds the bound of lawsI
New gales of tropic fury round my headJ
Break lashing me through hours of soulful dreadJ
But when the terror thins and spent withdrawsI
Leaving me wondering awhile I pauseI
But soon again the risky ways I treadJ
No rigid road for me no peace no restK
While molten elements run through my bloodL
And beauty burning bodies manifestK
Their warm heart melting motions to be wooedM
And passion boldly rising in my breastK
Like rivers of the Spring lets loose its floodL
