North And South Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHII

O sweet are tropic lands for waking dreamsA
There time and life move lazily alongB
There by the banks of blue and silver streamsA
Grass sheltered crickets chirp incessant songB
Gay colored lizards loll all through the dayC
Their tongues outstretched for careless little fliesD
And swarthy children in the fields at playC
Look upward laughing at the smiling skiesD
A breath of idleness is in the airE
That casts a subtle spell upon all thingsF
And love and mating time are everywhereE
And wonder to life's commonplaces clingsF
The fluttering humming bid darts through the treesG
And dips his long beak in the big bell flowersH
The leisured buzzard floats upon the breezeG
Riding a crescent cloud for endless hoursH
The sea beats softly on the emerald strandsI
O sweet for quiet dreams are tropic landsI
