Joy In The Woods Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EE FGHGIJIK EE LMLMNHNF EE

There is joy in the woods just nowA
The leaves are whispers of songB
And the birds make mirth on the boughA
And music the whole day longB
And God to dwell in the townC
In these springlike summer daysD
On my brow an unfading frownC
And hate in my heart alwaysD
-
A machine out of gear aye tiredE
Yet forced to go on for I m hiredE
-
Just forced to go on through fearF
For every day I must eatG
And find ugly clothes to wearH
And bad shoes to hurt my feetG
And a shelter for work drugged sleepI
A mere drudge but what can one doJ
A man that s a man cannot weepI
Suicide A quitter Oh noK
-
But a slave should never grow tiredE
Whom the masters have kindly hiredE
-
But oh for the woods the flowersL
Of natural sweet perfumeM
The heartening summer showersL
And the smiling shrubs in bloomM
Dust free dew tinted at mornN
The fresh and life giving airH
The billowing waves of cornN
And the birds notes rich and clearF
-
For a man machine toil tiredE
May crave beauty too though he s hiredE
