Home Thoughts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDEFFGGHHIIJK

Oh something just now must be happening thereA
That suddenly and quiveringly hereB
Amid the city's noises I must thinkC
Of mangoes leaning o'er the river's brinkC
And dexterous Davie climbing high aboveD
The gold fruits ebon speckled to removeE
And toss them quickly in the tangled massF
Of wis wis twisted round the guinea grassF
And Cyril coming through the bramble trackG
A prize bunch of bananas on his backG
And Georgie none could ever dive like himH
Throwing his scanty clothes off for a swimH
And schoolboys from Bridge tunnel going homeI
Watching the waters downward dash and foamI
This is no daytime dream there's something in itJ
Oh something's happening there this very minuteK
