America Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEFGFHII

Although she feeds me bread of bitternessA
And sinks into my throat her tiger's toothB
Stealing my breath of life I will confessC
I love this cultured hell that tests my youthB
Her vigor flows like tides into my bloodD
Giving me strength erect against her hateE
Her bigness sweeps my being like a floodD
Yet as a rebel fronts a king in stateE
I stand within her walls with not a shredF
Of terror malice not a word of jeerG
Darkly I gaze into the days aheadF
And see her might and granite wonders thereH
Beneath the touch of Time's unerring handI
Like priceless treasures sinking in the sandI
