A Memory Of June Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH AIAI

When June comes dancing o'er the death of MayA
With scarlet roses tinting her green breastB
And mating thrushes ushering in her dayA
And Earth on tiptoe for her golden guestB
-
I always see the evening when we metC
The first of June baptized in tender rainD
And walked home through the wide streets gleaming wetC
Arms locked our warm flesh pulsing with love's painD
-
I always see the cheerful little roomE
And in the corner fresh and white the bedF
Sweet scented with a delicate perfumeE
Wherein for one night only we were wedF
-
Where in the starlit stillness we lay muteG
And heard the whispering showers all night longH
And your brown burning body was a luteG
Whereon my passion played his fevered songH
-
When June comes dancing o'er the death of MayA
With scarlet roses staining her fair feetI
My soul takes leave of me to sing all dayA
A love so fugitive and so completeI
