Jasper, amber, opal, jet,
Planets low in summer skies,
Pool of noon and sunset mere,
One and all I shall forget
Sooner than your wistful eyes,
Brown as brook-water and clear.
Musk, amomum, frangipane,
Orange-scent and scent of fern,
And the spice of flowering cresses:
All are memories vague and vain-
None so swiftly shall return
As the perfume of your tresses.
