Imagination's eyesA
Outreach and distance farB
The vision of the greatest starB
That measures instantaneouslyC
Enisled therein as in a seaC
Its cincture of the system laden skiesA
Abysses closed about with nightD
A tribute yieldE
To her retardless sightD
And Matter's walls reveal the candent oresF
Rock held in furnaces of planet coresF
She penetrates the sun's transplendent shieldE
And through that inner vastness sphered and direG
Pierces his dreadful heart whose gurge of fireH
Heaves outward riven by Titanic throesI
And fills his frame with tide and cataractJ
Of thunder pulsing incandescent streamsK
Her eyes exactJ
From the Moon Sphinx that wanes and growsI
In wastes celestial alien dreamsK
Brought down on wings of spectral beamsK
Adown the clefts of under spaceL
She rides her steed a falling starB
To seek where void and vagueness areB
Some mark or certainty of placeL
Upon their heavenly precipiceM
The gathered suns shrink back aghastN
From that interminate abyssO
And threat of sightless anarchs vastN
-
She stands enduedP
With supermundane crown and vestituresO
Of emperies that includeP
All underworlds and overworlds of dreamQ
Domains with shadow boundR
Cimmerian and profoundR
And heights of some Himalaya supremeQ
Where moon transcending light enduresO
She roams in grey fantasmal lands where growS
In scarce discern d fields and closes blindT
Faint blossoms stirred by wings of eidolonsO
Or wanders all bemused and slowS
In woods where only nameless echoes goS
And wraiths of ancient windT
In twilight there she shunsO
The strident day while ecstasy and griefU
Speak only in vague whispers like the leafU
-
Upon some supersensual eminenceO
She hears the fragments of a thunder loudV
Where lightnings of ulterior Truth intenseO
Flame through the walls of hollow cloudV
But these she may not wholly graspW
With unsupernal claspW
Her eyes inevitably seeO
'Neath rounds and changes of exterior thingsO
The movements of EssentialityV
Of ageIess principles that alter notV
To temporaI alteringsO
Unswerved by shattered worlds upbuilt once moreX
And stars no longer hotV
Or broken constellations strewnY
Like coals about the heavenly floorX
And rush of night upon the noonY
Of their lost worlds unsphered retrievelesslyS
In icy deserts of the skyZ
From the beginning of the spheresO
When systems nebulous out thrownA2
Drove back the brinksO
Of nullity with limitary marksO
Till end of suns and sunless death of yearsO
To her are knownA2
The unevident inseparable linksO
That bind all deeps all suns all days and darksO
