Rhyme Scheme: A BCBDEFEF GHGHII A

Huge vapours brood above the clifted shoreB
Night on the ocean settles dark and muteC
Save where is heard the repercussive roarB
Of drowsy billows on the rugged footD
Of rocks remote or still more distant toneE
Of seamen in the anchored bark that tellF
The watch relieved or one deep voice aloneE
Singing the hour and bidding Strike the bellF
-
All is black shadow but the lucid lineG
Marked by the light surf on the level sandH
Or where afar the ship lights faintly shineG
Like wandering fairy fires that oft on landH
Misled the pilgrim such the dubious rayI
That wavering reason lends in life's long darkling wayI
