Verses Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFGHHIIJJKK LLMM

Supposed to have been written in the New ForestA
in early SpringB
AS in the woods where leathery Lichen weavesC
Its wint'ry web among the sallow leavesC
Which through cold months in whirling eddies blownD
Decay beneath the branches once their ownD
From the brown shelter of their foliage searE
Spring the young blooms that lead the floral yearE
When waked by vernal suns the Pilewort daresF
Expand her spotted leaves and shining starsG
And veins empurpling all her tassels paleH
Bends the soft Wind flower in the tepid galeH
Uncultured bells of azure Jacynth's blowI
And the breeze scenting Violet lurks belowI
So views the wanderer with delighted eyesJ
Reviving hopes from black despondence riseJ
When blighted by adversity's chill breathK
Those hopes had felt a temporary deathK
-
Then with gay heart he looks to future hoursL
When love shall dress for him the summer bowersL
And as delicious dreams enchant his mindM
Forgets his sorrows past or gives them to the windM
