Verses Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFGHHIIJJKK LLMM| Supposed to have been written in the New Forest | A |
| in early Spring | B |
| AS in the woods where leathery Lichen weaves | C |
| Its wint'ry web among the sallow leaves | C |
| Which through cold months in whirling eddies blown | D |
| Decay beneath the branches once their own | D |
| From the brown shelter of their foliage sear | E |
| Spring the young blooms that lead the floral year | E |
| When waked by vernal suns the Pilewort dares | F |
| Expand her spotted leaves and shining stars | G |
| And veins empurpling all her tassels pale | H |
| Bends the soft Wind flower in the tepid gale | H |
| Uncultured bells of azure Jacynth's blow | I |
| And the breeze scenting Violet lurks below | I |
| So views the wanderer with delighted eyes | J |
| Reviving hopes from black despondence rise | J |
| When blighted by adversity's chill breath | K |
| Those hopes had felt a temporary death | K |
| - | |
| Then with gay heart he looks to future hours | L |
| When love shall dress for him the summer bowers | L |
| And as delicious dreams enchant his mind | M |
| Forgets his sorrows past or gives them to the wind | M |
