From the brown shelter of their foliage sear | E |
Spring the young blooms that lead the floral year | E |
When waked by vernal suns the Pilewort dares | F |
Expand her spotted leaves and shining stars | G |
And veins empurpling all her tassels pale | H |
Bends the soft Wind flower in the tepid gale | H |
Uncultured bells of azure Jacynth's blow | I |
And the breeze scenting Violet lurks below | I |
So views the wanderer with delighted eyes | J |
Reviving hopes from black despondence rise | J |
When blighted by adversity's chill breath | K |
Those hopes had felt a temporary death | K |
