To The Snowdrop Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC CDCD ECEC

Like pendent flakes of vegetating snowA
The early herald of the infant yearB
Ere yet the adventurous crocus dares to blowA
Beneath the orchard boughs thy buds appearB
-
While still the cold north east ungenial loursC
And scarce the hazel in the leafless copseC
Or sallows shew their downy powder'd flowersC
The grass is spangled with thy silver dropsC
-
Yet when those pallid blossoms shall give placeC
To countless tribes of richer hue and scentD
Summer's gay blooms and autumn's yellow raceC
I shall thy pale inodorous bells lamentD
-
So journeying onward in life's varying trackE
Ev'n while warm youth its bright illusion lendsC
Fond memory often with regret looks backE
To childhood's pleasures and to infant friendsC
